Flowers and Thorns
I've always had a fascination with how small things look when magnified, so the cacti around the house made for a perfect subject to try out the macro setting of the 70-300mm zoom. What really captured my attention in this shot was how the spines gown out of the cactus straight, with ablunt tip. As they reach their final length, they bend into a hook and the tip shapens to become needle sharp. Canon 20D - 1/30th, 190mm @ f/29, ISO 100
